WEBSITE PLANNING / JAMAICA

How long does a website take?

Plan a website timeline around scope, content, review and integrations. A launch date follows the agreed work rather than a generic deadline.

Give the date a reason.

Tell the studio whether you are working towards an event, a business opening or an internal target. Explain which part of the website must be ready and which parts could follow later.

A date in an enquiry is a planning request. It does not reserve capacity or become an agreed delivery date.

Identify the dependencies.

The critical path may include content approval or a third-party account, not only design and coding.

  • Named content supplier and one person coordinating feedback.
  • Products, service details, images and permissions ready for review.
  • Access to existing accounts through an agreed secure method.
  • Payment, booking or other provider approvals where needed.
  • A Working builds, acceptance checks and a launch decision.

Agree milestones and change handling.

Ask what you will review at each milestone and how feedback should be supplied. Consolidated feedback is easier to act on than conflicting instructions from several people.

If scope, content or integrations change, review the effect on the schedule before proceeding. Record the revised scope and date in writing.

Leave time for the actual launch checks.

Check mobile and desktop behavior, important links, the enquiry journey and recovery before approval. Domain changes, email routing and handover need their own checks.

A finished design does not mean all external systems are ready. Use the launch checklist to identify what still needs evidence.

Your questions, answered.
