What will the website cost after launch?
List the recurring costs of a business website: domain, hosting, email, software, usage and care. Keep ownership and renewal responsibilities clear.
Separate recurring costs from the project price.
A quotation should identify which charges continue after the build. A one-off design fee does not automatically cover every account, renewal or future change.
Use the billing currency and actual billing period for each item. An effective monthly price paid annually is different from a monthly payment.
Create a renewal and usage list.
For each service, record its owner, purpose, billing period and whether its price is fixed or usage-based.
- Domain registration and renewal.
- Hosting and any database, storage or backup services.
- Business mailbox and transactional email.
- Paid themes, plugins, booking software or ecommerce subscriptions.
- Payment processing and other metered integrations.
- Agreed maintenance and separately requested changes.
Ask how usage charges are controlled.
An included allowance is different from an enforced spending cap. Clarify what happens when usage rises or a quota is exhausted before accepting a metered service.
Do not assume an alert stops billing. Include the provider’s actual cost-control behavior in the handover and approve paid upgrades separately.
Define what care covers.
Ask which updates, checks, backups, reports and content edits are included, how requests are handled and which work is separately quoted.
Record the person responsible for renewals and recovery even if you do not buy an ongoing care arrangement.
